Implant Retained Dentures

Considering dentures but worried about them falling out? With implant-retained dentures you can smile, eat, and talk with complete confidence.

Implant-retained dentures may be ideal for patients with missing teeth and enough jawbone to support the implants.

There are two types of dentures supported by implants; first is the conventional or full implants and second is the mini implants.

Conventional Implant-Retained Dentures

This type may require the use of two full implants. Once the implants are in place, your dentist inserts a small receptacle into your denture. This receptacle snaps on your implant, keeping your dentures secure.

Full implants will take more time to heal than mini implants. Your dentist can check to see whether you’re a good candidate for implant-retained dentures.

Mini Implants

Mini implants come in the same form as regular implants, but ultra small. They may be an option if you want to replace missing teeth but aren’t comfortable with the traditional restoration options.

You may also consider getting mini implants if you don’t want to undergo an invasive surgery. And since mini implants are less invasive, recovery is faster.

Mini implants can support several types of restorative options but they are not as strong as the regular implants. Therefore, you may need 4 of them to support your dentures.

Harry acquired his Denturism diploma in 1985. He loves providing service to the community and has been helping patients in our office for over 5 years.

Harry is a former full-time Professor at George Brown College. He is also an active member of both the Canadian & Ontario Denturist Associations.
